Pear and Sage Sparkler

Equipment

  • cocktail shaker

Ingredients
  

  • 3/4 cup pear nectar
  • 1 Tablespoon fresh lemon juice about 1/2 lemon
  • 2 fresh sage leaves plus more for garnish
  • A small pinch of cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup sparkling water chilled
  • Ice cubes
  • 2 thin slices of pear for garnish
  • *Cocktail version: 3 ounces pear-infused vodka 1 1/2 ounces per cocktail

Instructions
 

  • In a small saucepan, combine pear nectar, lemon juice, sage leaves, and cinnamon.
  • Warm gently over low heat for 3–4 minutes. Do not boil.
  • Remove from heat and let steep for 5 minutes. Discard sage leaves and chill the mixture for approximately 20 minutes in the refrigerator.

To Assemble:

  • Fill two glasses with ice.
  • Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice cubes.
  • Pour the pear mixture into the shaker. If creating a cocktail, add the vodka and shake well.
  • Divide evenly (about 1/2 cup each) into each glass.
  • Top with 1/4 cup sparkling water. Stir gently.
  • Garnish each glass inside with a thin slice of pear and a sprig of fresh sage.
  • Optional: add a twist of lemon peel for a little extra aroma.
